Linn-Mar senior Brady Anderson will not win the Class 2A state singles title again this year, but it's not because anyone beat him at the district meet Thursday.
Anderson hopes to double his fun this year by playing for the state doubles title with his buddy Trevor McCann, rather than trying to defend his singles crown.
They got off to a good start Thursday by winning the district title at Clinton with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Michael Porubcin and Bryce Brien of Bettendorf in the finals.
Tennis players have to choose what they want to do in the postseason - singles or doubles - because they are not allowed to do both, according to IHSAA rules. Anderson and McCann have been friends since they were little kids, hanging around the courts at the Cedar Rapids Country Club, and they make a formidable pair.
