Weeces tosses perfect game for Coe
STORM LAKE - No. 9 Coe got a perfect game from Arran Weeces in the second game of an Iowa Conference doubleheader Saturday as the Kohawks swept Buena Vista, 7-3 and 7-0.
Weeces struck out 14 of the 21 batters she faced in her gem and her offense provided plenty of support. Taylor Riedl had two homers and four runs batted in. Nicole Gentile and Abby Flannagan also went deep.
In the opener, Haley Smith had three of Coe's 13 hits, including a home run to back a solid pitching effort from Maddison Woodruff.
Woodruff allowed six hits but struck out 15 for the Kohawks (30-5 overall, 8-2 IIAC). Buena Vista fell to 13-15, 5-5.
