MYFA passes on priceless experiences

On a sunny but slightly crisp Sunday afternoon, spring sports and activities were in full bloom.

As I drove from the west to the east side of Cedar Rapids, I saw baseball being played at Daniels Park, golfers at St. Andrews, bicyclists aplenty. But there also was football. Yes, football in April.

Josiah Coleman commits to Iowa Western C.C.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy senior Josiah Coleman has accepted an offer to join the men's basketball team at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, he said Sunday.

Coleman, a 6-foot-4 swingman, averaged 9.6 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Cougars this year. He missed the first 10 games of the season while serving a suspension for violating school rules.

Coleman said he received NCAA Division I scholarship offers from Wyoming, Coppin State and Sacramento State, but acknowledged he is not academically eligible to accept a major college scholarship and play at the Division I level next season.
