Printy finished for year with torn ACL

IOWA CITY - University of Iowa junior Jaime Printy tore the ACL in her left knee during Thursday night's Big Ten game at Wisconsin and will miss the remainder of the season.

Printy, a 5-foot-11 guard, will need surgery to repair the injury. She tore the same ligament when she was a sophomore at Linn-Mar High School.

Printy is Iowa's leading scorer at 16.9 points and ranks 10th in school history with 1,409 points in her career. She was the Big Ten freshman of the year in 2009-10 and twice has been a second team all-Big Ten selection.

Make sure you see Paige in person

I would like to start today by writing about the Linn-Mar versus Cedar Rapids Prairie boys basketball game last Friday at Linn-Mar.

In my view, taken in its total body of play, it was one of the most unusual and thrilling high school games that I've seen in a long, long time. I usually take the game program and keep score and make notes, and this resulted in some scratching for a couple of pages.

Prairie girls whipped by No. 2 West

Twelfth-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie is hitting a rough patch in the home stretch of its girls basketball season and it may not get any tougher then it was Thursday night.

Second-ranked Iowa City West had four players score in double figures and raced past Prairie, 75-45, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Prairie.

Prairie (11-6, 8-5) got 18 points from Courteney McCrary, but lost its third straight game. The Hawks play at No. 9 Iowa City High Friday night, then have games against ranked foes Dubuque Wahlert and Xavier next week.

“We have to play better,” Prairie Coach Steve Doser said. “We have three tough ones left; we have to be better.”

Jaime Printy hurt in UI victory

MADISON, Wis. - University of Iowa junior Jaime Printy suffered an apparent knee injury in a Big Ten basketball game at Wisconsin Thursday night.

Printy, a 5-foot-11 guard from Linn-Mar, got hurt in overtime as the Hawkeyes topped the Badgers, 85-79.

"Jaime doesn't feel good about it," Iowa Coach Lisa Bluder said after the game, according to the UI website. "The doctor's looking at it right now, but as of right now she doesn't feel very good about it. It's pretty bittersweet."
