Jade Rogers not playing for Hawks in Europe
Jade Rogers had arthroscopic knee surgery in May and is not playing for the University of Iowa women's basketball team on its current trip to Europe.
Rogers, a sophomore from Cedar Rapids Kennedy, accompanied the Hawkeyes to Europe and blogged about the team's visit to Paris this week on the UI website (www.hawkeyesports.com).
Rogers, a 6-foot forward, originally hurt her knee while at Kennedy and had a major operation. The arthroscopic surgery in May was performed to "clean up" loose cartilage, according to her family.
Rogers scored 21 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in 13 games last season for the Hawkeyes. She is expected to be ready for the 2011-12 campaign.
