Warriors rout Regina

Washington enjoyed a break from the Class 4A boys basketball wars Saturday night with an easy victory against a 2A club.

The Warriors clipped Iowa City Regina, 59-37, before a sparse crowd of a few hundred spectators at the Washington gym.

Washington (10-6) blitzed to a 24-7 lead after the first quarter and breezed the rest of the way.

Josh Oglesby led the Warriors with 17 points, 12 rebounds andĀ five assists with clever sleight-of-hand passes. Wes Washpun collected 16 points, nine rebounds andĀ five assists.

Sean Bredl scored eight points in the early part of the game as the Warriors grabbed a quick 14-0 lead. The 6-foot-4 center finished with 10 points.

Regina (13-7) played without 6-foot-7 senior Braden Lehman, a 12-point scorer who has been suspended for violating school rules.

Jacoby Firkins led the Regals with nine points.
