Robe lifts Lions past Washington bowlers

Dreyson Robe fired three strikes in the final frame of the Baker round to lift Linn-Mar past Washington, 3188-3183, in boys bowling Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Washington battled back from a 48-pin deficit at the end of the first round.

Washington's Quincy Bruce tossed three strikes in his final frame of the Baker round to put the pressure on Robe, who needed two strikes and a six count to pull out the win.

Instead, Robe struck out for the five-pin victory.

Robe shot high game in singles with a 245. Trent Jochimsen fired a 244. Andrew Prowse had high series with a 453. Robe shot 436 and Jochimsen 432.

Zach Christensen had high game and series for Washington with a 244 and 447. Bruce had a 233 and 439.
