Kennedy will induct 12 into Hall of Fame

Ten former athletes and two boosters will be inducted into the Kennedy Athletic Hall of Fame this Friday night.

The athletes are Leesa and Sarah Cadwallader, Laurie (Haddy) Hepker, Meghan Sievertsen, Susan (Buckheister) Hanson, Louie Ervin, Chad Hartke, Ben Lamaak, Randy Moore and Nick Morio.

The two boosters are Jayne Kremer and Chuck Patton.

The induction ceremony will be held in the Kennedy cafeteria at 5:15 p.m. Friday. The new Hall of Famers will be introduced to the crowd at approximately 7:30 p.m. between games of a basketball doubleheader against Jefferson.

Leesa and Sarah Cadwallader (2007) were state tennis champions in doubles (2005 and 2006) and helped Kennedy win the team championship in 2007. They played tennis at Creighton.

Hepker (1979) participated in volleyball, basketball, cross country and track. She finished third in the 800 meters at the state indoor meet in 1979 and ran at Central College.

Sievertsen (2005) won three state diving titles in a row (2002-04) and competed at the University of Iowa.

Hanson (1997) was a four-sport athlete in volleyball, cross country, basketball and track. She twice placed in the top-15 at the state cross country meet and finished sixth in the 800 at Drake and the state meet. She was a three-sport athlete at Luther.

Ervin (1990) participated in football, basketball, track and baseball. He was named second team all-state in football and was a multiple placewinner at the Drake Relays and state meet. He played football at Iowa State.

Hartke (1992) played football and basketball. He earned second team all-state in football and was first team all-state in basketball and was named the MVC Player of the Year. He played basketball at Minnesota State.

Lamaak (2006) participated in football, basketball, track and baseball. He placed at the state track meet and Drake Relays in the shot put and holds the school record. He was first team all-state in football and basketball and played football at Iowa State.

Moore (1981) competed in cross country, track and swimming. He helped the Kennedy swim team win the 1981 state title. Also an excellent hurdler, he won the 400 hurdles at the Drake Relays and state meet and set meet records both times.

Morio (1995) played baseball and football. He was named second team all-state in baseball and was academic all-state in football.

Kremer joins her husband, Leroy, in the Kennedy Hall of Fame. Their three sons graduated from Kennedy and she has served in many capacities in the Booster Club and parent support groups.

Patton's four children graduated from Kennedy and he has been a member of the Booster Club since 1977.
