C.R. police make 4 arrests in Roundtree homicide

The Cedar Rapids Police Department has made four arrests in the Latasha Roundtree homicide that occurred on Sept. 22, 2012.

Roundtree, 19, graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School last year and played basketball for the Warriors.

The Cedar Rapids Police arrested Tajh Malik Ross, Jeremiah Akeem Ellis, Liban Muhidin and Adrian Marcelis Kenney in the murder of Roundtree.

After the five-month investigation, Cedar Rapids Police arrested Ellis, 18, on Tuesday with the assistance of the Rockford (Ill.) police department. He is currently in custody in Rockford.

His charges include murder in the first degree, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony and going armed with intent. His address is listed as Rockford, Ill.

Tajh Malik Ross, 18, was arrested at 2050 Glass Road NE in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday. He is currently in the Linn County Jail. His charges include murder in the first degree, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony and going armed with intent.

Liban N. Muhidin, 20, was arrested at the 1200 block of 4th Ave SE in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday. He is currently in the Linn County Jail. His charges include conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, perjury and accessory after the fact.

Adrian Marcelis Kenney, 22, was arrested at 1407 4th Ave SE on Wednesday. He is currently in the Linn County Jail. His charges include intimidation with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, trafficking in stolen weapons, perjury and accessory after the fact.

"I am very proud of the persistent efforts of the Cedar Rapids Police Criminal Investigative Division. They have worked diligently for five months and we have had a positive outcome in this case," said Cedar Rapids Police Chief Wayne Jerman.

"Over one-fourth of the men and women of this department have touched this case in one way or another. We have also worked closely with the Linn County Attorney's Office throughout this investigation.

"These arrests have been made because of the hard work of all that have been involved. I am pleased that we have been able to provide answers to the Roundtree family and to the community and to hold those responsible for the death of Latasha Roundtree."

The investigation is ongoing and there will be no further information released at this time.

On Sept. 22 at 10 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of 16th Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids to a reported shooting. Upon their arrival officers found evidence of shots being fired in this area.

During the same time period officers learned that Roundtree had been admitted to Mercy Hospital and subsequently transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics where she died from her injuries.
