DES MOINES - Xavier sophomore Caleb Miller fired a 279 his second game Monday that lifted him to a 492 total and the Class 1A state bowling title at Plaza Lanes.

Miller rolled a 213 in his first game, but went high in his second. He beat Dubuque Wahlert's AJ Gregory by 14 pins for the title.

Xavier's Kyle Elliott finished fourth with games of 246 and 216 for a 462 total.

The Saints finished second in the team race to Dubuque Wahlert. The Golden Eagles had a score of 3368, Xavier 3242.

Zach Klimesh rolled a 423 series and Kirby Guge a 416 for Xavier.

The meet was held Monday after being postponed Feb. 21 because of snow.
