IOWA CITY - The Cedar Rapids Prairie softball team lost a pair of one-run games at Iowa City West Tuesday.

Iowa City West captured the first game, 5-4, in eight innings. The Women of Troy won the second game, 1-0, with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Prairie fell to 7-5 overall and 3-3.

The Hawks outhit Iowa City West, 12-6, in the first game. Gabi Carter went 4-for-4 and Madi Gudenkauf was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Katie Kuch pitched a complete game and absorbed the loss.

Iowa City West scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the opener, 4-4, then won the game in extra innings.

Prairie had more hits than Iowa City West in the second game as well, 8-5, but could not push a run across the plate. Brittney Lash went 3-for-4 for the Hawks. Carter was the hard-luck loser on the mound.
