JESUP - Kennedy split a pair of games Saturday at the Jesup softball tournament.

The Cougars pounded Wapsie Valley, 13-3, then dropped a 6-5 decision to Waterloo East.

Kennedy (5-7) rapped out 17 hits against Wapsie Valley.

The Cougars carried a 7-2 lead into the sixth inning and put the game away with a six-run outburst. Hannah Harberts had a two-run single, Taylor Sohn a two-run triple and Ashley Hamilton capped the uprising with a two-run home run.

Hamilton had four hits, Sohn and Heather McKinnon added three apiece.

Madeline Crist tossed a two-hitter.

Hamilton had three of Kennedy's 10 hits against Waterloo East. McKinnon hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh that pulled the Cougars within 6-5.
