Nic Mougin did double-duty on the mound for Prairie Monday night as the Hawks swept a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader from Waterloo East, 10-0 and 11-3, at the Prairie field.

Mougin tossed a one-hit shutout in the first game, which lasted only five innings, then pitched two perfect innings in relief in the nightcap.

Mougin needed only 52 pitches in the opener.

"He set the tone for our team by doing a good job of throwing strikes," Coach Matt Thede reported.

The Hawks, riding a seven-game winning streak, raised their records to 16-6 overall and 11-3 in the MVC. They lead the Valley Division with their 11-3 mark.

Ty Mougin went 3-for-3 and scored three runs in the first game. Brennan Hammer was 2-for-3 and scored three times. Tyler Butz, Tyler Votroubek and Trey Beckman drove in two runs.

Ty Mougin went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the nightcap. Dylan Becker was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Corbin Day scored twice and drove in two runs. Caleb Davison was 2-for-4. Blake Stallman and Mitch Peters scored twice.

Waterloo East fell to 2-17 overall and 1-13 in the league.
