CVC spikers take 3rd at tourney

CLINTON - The Cedar Valley Christian volleyball team won two matches Saturday and finished third at the Prince of Peace tournament in Clinton.

The Huskies defeated Anamosa, 21-17, 16-21, 15-11, in the match for third place as Shelby Hembera collected eight kills and Jessie Walsh had nine assists.

Cedar Valley defeated Anamosa earlier in the tournament as well, 21-17, 21-17, with Walsh netting five kills.

 

The Huskies lost to Northeast (21-11, 21-18), Galena (21-12, 21-10) and Prince of Peace (21-17, 21-16).

Samantha Smith had five digs against Galena and Walsh had four kills. Grace Etzel had six aces against Prince of Peace.

Walsh and Smith were named to the all-tournament team.
