'Gold Out' set for Kennedy, IC West game

PDF

Kennedy High School and Iowa City West will hold a special "Gold Out" this Friday in connection with their football game at Iowa City West to help fight childhood cancer.

Starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday, participants will run from the UI Children's Hospital pediatric oncology unit to West High School with a special football. They are scheduled to arrive at the school at 5:15 p.m.

There will be a lasagna dinner in the Iowa City West cafeteria from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for participants and the general public from both schools.

The organizers will sell special T-shirts to both schools: United We Can Beat Cancer. The shirts will have green print, which is fitting for both schools and their school colors.

Organizers will raffle off two footballs, one signed by UI football coach Kirk Ferentz and the other signed by former UI and San Diego Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding.

All proceeds will go to the Iowa City West Dance Marathon to support childhood cancer patients and their families.
