Larry Gladson, the head pro at Elmcrest Country Club, is the winner of the 2014 President's Award for his contributions to junior golf, the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association has announced.

The Class 4A boys district tournament was held at Elmcrest Monday. Xavier Coach Tim O'Brien made the announcement about Gladson winning the award after the meet.

"It means a lot. Junior golf means a lot to me," Gladson said. "We had a number of Elmcrest kids out here today who were competing and competed really well.

"It's important to what we do out here as a club, it's important to me and it's good to see the kids do so well."

Gladson has given lessons to many of the top junior golfers in the Metro area and has supported their golf careers.
