DUBUQUE - The Xavier volleyball team had to work hard in Dubuque Tuesday night, but the Saints returned home as champions.

The Saints outslugged Dubuque Wahlert, 25-23, 27-29, 25-11, 25-21, to claim the Valley Division title in the Mississippi Valley Conference with a perfect 6-0 record.

Britni Scholtes collected 56 assists for Xavier. Kayla Torson had 23 kills and Madsey Richards had 17.

Helle Heying made 34 digs and Torson had 20. Kasey Vanden Bosch made three blocks and Kara Zwanziger had two blocks.

The Saints, who are ranked No.4 in Class 4A, raised their overall record to 27-10. Wahlert fell to 12-21 overall and 1-5 in the Valley Division.
