Linn-Mar inducting 9 into Hall of Fame

Linn-Mar High School will induct nine people into its Athletic Hall of Fame this Friday prior to the boys basketball game against Cedar Rapids Washington.

The new inductees are Bob Carey, Erin (Strellner) Stanley, Brad Reid, Amy (Osenbaugh) Brinkmeyer, Arnold "Tex" McCoy, Scott Underwood, John Kress, Lindsey Digmann and Jordan Printy.

Carey coached football, basketball, baseball and softball in the Linn-Mar district and was the athletic director from 1988-94. He retired in 1998 but continues to serve as a volunteer in the Linn-Mar press box for football games.

Stanley played softball for five years and was named the Mississippi Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2001 when Linn-Mar won the conference title. She also was named all-state in softball and played basketball.

Reid earned 14 varsity letters at Linn-Mar in football, wrestling, baseball, golf and track. He made all-state in football and was the MVC champion in the 200 and 400 meter dashes.

Brinkmeyer participated in volleyball, basketball and track at Linn-Mar. She held the single-game scoring record in basketball until Kiah Stokes broke it in 2010. She also has been inducted into the Mount Mercy Hall of Fame in volleyball.

McCoy began working at Linn-Mar in 1962 and served as the athletic director and football coach during his career. His football teams won ECIC titles and reached the semifinals of the state playoffs in 1975, the first time the Lions made the playoffs.

Underwood participated in football, basketball, track and baseball. He was an all-state selection in football and helped Linn-Mar win the state basketball title in 1983. He is currently the football coach at St. Cloud State.

Kress excelled in gymnastics at Linn-Mar. He competed on two state championship teams and was a state champion in the floor exercise, parallel bars and high bar. He retired from the Air Force as a colonel.

Digmann earned 12 letters in volleyball, basketball, track and softball. She was named the MVC Athlete of the Year in track in 2005 and 2006 and was named the MVC Athlete of the Year in softball in 2005. She was all-state in softball two years.

Printy helped Linn-Mar win the 2007 state basketball title and was named captain of the state tournament team. He finished his career with 1,007 points and is currently an assistant coach with the Lions.
