Marion girls fall to DeWitt

The Marion and DeWitt Central girls basketball teams combined for 62 points in the first half Friday night, but then everybody lost their shooting touch and they combined for only 24 points in a sluggish second half.

DeWitt Central went home with a 47-39 victory in a Wamac Conference game at Marion.

DeWitt Central outscored Marion, 34-28, in the first half. DeWitt had the advantage in the second half as well, this time by a 13-11 margin.

Michalyn Mohr led Marion (4-12, 4-9) with 15 points and Amanda Sahm had 11. Only four players scored for the Indians.

Amanda Brainerd and Miranda Meland scored 17 apiece for DeWitt Central. Meland hit five 3-pointers.

 

DEWITT CENTRAL (47): Roling 2 1-5 6, Henninson 0 0-0 0, Sanders 0 0-0 0, McNamara 0 1-2 1, Brainerd 7 3-4 17, Cornelius 1 0-0 2, Meland 6 0-0 17, Willis 2 0-1 4. Totals 18 5-12 47.

MARION (39): Peyton 0 0-0 0, Sahm 4 2-4 11, Dunne 0 0-0 0, Fuller 0 0-0 0, Jones 3 0-0 6, Whitney 0 0-0 0, Jordan 3 0-0 7, Frazier 0 0-0 0, Mohr 6 3-7 15. Totals 15 5-11 39.
