Prairie girls drop 11th game in row

The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls basketball team gave sixth-ranked Waterloo West a battle Friday night, but the end result was the 11th straight loss for the Hawks to end the regular season.

Blaire Thomas scored 21 points and Kate Letkewicz had 16 as the Wahawks beat Prairie, 52-40, at the Prairie gym.

Cyerra Hutchins led Prairie with 16 points. The Hawks began the season with a 6-4 record, but they'll enter the postseason with a 6-15 mark and a final 4-9 record in the Mississippi Valley Conference.
