Moldenhauer lifts Riders to victory

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Scott Moldenhauer scored an unassisted goal at the 5:37 mark of the third period Friday night to snap a 3-3 tie and give the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders a 4-3 victory over Youngstown in a USHL game before 1,564 fans at the Covelli Center.

Jason Kalinowski, Andrew Poturalski and Frederik Tiffels scored goals for Cedar Rapids in the second period to give the RoughRiders a 3-2 edge, but Trey Bradley tallied for Youngstown to forge a 3-3 tie late in the period.

Chris Birdsall made 18 saves in goal for the RoughRiders.

Cedar Rapids and Youngstown will meet again Saturday night at the Covelli Center.
