The Kirkwood women's basketball team will have one of the tallest players in school history on the roster next season when 6-foot-5 center Kaycee Kallenberger joins the squad.

Kallenberger spent this past season at Eastern Illinois University, where she played sparingly and scored seven points in 11 games.

Kallenberger was an all-conference player in the Mississippi Athletic Conference (MAC) in high school. She set the career record for blocked shots at North Scott, then transferred to Pleasant Valley for her senior year.

Kirkwood has signed seven new players for the 2014-15 campaign, Coach Kim Muhl announced Wednesday.

The other new players are Cyerra Hutchins of Cedar Rapids Prairie, Casey Miles from Hudson High School, Addie Obermann from Northeast Goose Lake, Madison Wood from Cedar Falls, A.J. Downs from Merillville (Ind.) and Caitlin Sudduth from Tinley Park (Ill.).

Hutchins, 5-9, averaged 12.8 points and 4.7 rebounds at Prairie this season, with 44 assists and 31 steals.

Miles, 5-7, helped Hudson finish second at the Class 2A state tournament. She averaged 16.6 points, 7 rebounds and made 34 percent of her 3-pointers. Miles was selected for the Class 2A all-tournament team and was named second team all-state by the Iowa Newspaper Association.

Obermann, 5-9, averaged 17.9 points and 7 rebounds. She also contributed 102 assists, 81 steals and 19 blocked shots. She was named third team all-state by the INA.

Wood, 6-2, averaged 14.5 points and 8.1 rebounds. She shot 50.2 percent from the field (131 of 261).

Downs, 5-7, averaged 11.5 points, 3.1 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 2.4 steals.

Sudduth, 5-6, played both guard positions at Tinley Park High School.

Kirkwood finished 25-7 last season and is scheduled to return eight players.
