VINTON -- Marion won five events and had eight second-place finishes Thursday en route to the title of the Viking Invitational boys track meet.

The Indians scored 161 points to beat Vinton-Shellsburg's A team by 11.

Marion's Zach Burhite (800), Peter Rethwisch (3200) and Taylor Rogers (400 hurdles) won events. Rethwisch also finished second in the 1600 and Rogers second in the 110 hurdles.

The Indians won the 4x800 and distance medleys. They got nipped in the closest race of the night, losing to Wapsie Valley by .01 seconds in the 4x200 relay.
