The Kennedy Cougars have drawn a No. 1 seed for the Class 4A baseball playoffs and will host Pleasant Valley in the opening round of the Substate 4 tournament July 18.

If the Cougars beat Pleasant Valley, they will draw a second-round bye and host the substate finals July 23.

Linn-Mar will visit Davenport West and Bettendorf will meet Muscatine in the other first-round games in Substate 4. Davenport West is the No. 2 seed in the six-team bracket.

The Jefferson J-Hawks have drawn the No. 2 seed in the Class 4A Substate 5 tournament and will host the Prairie Hawks July 18. Washington will visit Burlington and Iowa City High will meet Iowa City West in the other first-round games. Iowa City West is the No. 1 seed.

The Marion Indians and Xavier Saints will play in the Class 3A Substate 4 tournament in Epworth July 18. Marion will play Dubuque Wahlert and Xavier will face Western Dubuque in the opening round. They would meet in the semifinals July 21 if they win their openers.

Davenport Assumption, Anamosa, DeWitt Central and Maquoketa are in the same substate with Marion and Xavier.

The substate finals in Class 3A and 4A are scheduled for July 23.
