Meg Monson fired a 5-over-par 77 Friday to help the Mount Mercy women's golf team take the lead after the first round of the Mount Mercy Fall Invitational at Hunters Ridge.
Sydney Clement of Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) has the individual lead after 18 holes at 2-over 74. Monson sits in second place with her 77.
The Mustangs have an eight-shot lead on AIB heading into the final round Saturday.
