The Dubuque Fighting Saints trimmed the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 2-1, in a USHL preseason game Thursday night before 350 fans at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

Dubuque took a 2-0 lead on goals by Jakob Romo and Zack Zulkanycz.

Brennan Sanford put the RoughRiders on the board in the second period with an assist from Carlos Fornaris, but that was the end of the scoring.

Dubuque out-shot Cedar Rapids, 31-19.

Danny Tirone made 29 saves for the RoughRiders.
