Hot RoughRiders top Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders raised their record to 9-1 Saturday night with a 5-2 victory over Green Bay in a USHL game before 4,677 fans at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

The RoughRiders lead the Eastern Conference with 18 points and have a four-point lead over Dubuque and Muskegon.

Cedar Rapids jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Alec Marsh and Jiri Fronk, but Green Bay rallied and pulled even at 2-2 with a pair of goals in the second period.

The RoughRiders stormed back and quickly grabbed a 4-2 edge in the second period on goals by Erik Foley and Hugh McGing. Andrew Gaus finished the scoring for Cedar Rapids with an empty-net goal with 50 seconds left in the game.

Ryan Larkin stopped 34 of 36 shots in goal for the RoughRiders.

Cedar Rapids will play three games in three days next weekend. They visit Sioux Falls Friday night, host Fargo Saturday night and visit Bloomington in a quick turnaround next Sunday afternoon.
