DECORAH - Ryan Sheldon and Donnie Horner paced the Coe wrestling team at the Luther Open in Decorah Saturday.

Sheldon compiled a 3-1 record and finished second at 184 pounds. He lost to Sam Brooks of Iowa, 18-3, in the finals.

Horner went 4-1 and placed third at 197 pounds. He won his first two matches before losing to Nathan Burak of Iowa, 16-7, and then came back with two more victories in the consolation bracket.

Mike Gussarson placed fifth at 133 pounds with a 3-2 record for the Kohawks in the first meet of the season.

Jan Rosenberg went 1-2 at 125 pounds, Luke Kremer was 0-2 at 141, Josh Donkle wsa 2-2 at 149, TJ Morrell was 0-2 at 149, Nik Ramirez was 0-2 at 157, Ryan Donovan went 0-2 at 165, Garrett Kelson was 2-2 at 174, Michael Rathbun was 0-2 at 184, Kirk Owens was 2-2 at 285 and Creighton Fox went 1-2 at 285.

The Kohawks are ranked fifth in NCAA Division III.
