Coe women trimmed by Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Coe women's basketball team opened the season with a 61-54 loss to Wisconsin-Eau Clair before 426 fans at a tournament in Eau Claire Saturday.

The Kohawks led 27-26 at halftime but could not hang on.

Megan Hayes led Coe with 13 points. Freshman Aleena Hobbs from Cedar Rapids Washington hit two 3-pointers and scored 10 points in her collegiate debut.

Courtney Lewis paced Eau Claire with 18 points.

The Kohawks face Wisconsin-Oshkosh Sunday afternoon.
