Shelby Hembera's assault on the Metro record book will be postponed a week or two, but it's not over.
Hembera suffered a sprained ankle Friday night in Cedar Valley's basketball game against Easton Valley, but there are no broken bones and she is expected to play again this season.
"They found out it's a sprained ankle, but it's not fractured," Cedar Valley Coach Craig Foote said. "We're thankful for that."
Hembera is the second-leading scorer in Metro history with 1,859 points and the fourth-leading rebounder with 893 in her career. The 6-foot-1 senior leads the state in scoring at 30.3 points per game this season.
Foote said Hembera will not play Tuesday night against Bellevue Marquette, but he's not sure how along the all-state forward will be sidelined.
