Coe men earn IIAC berth with win

DUBUQUE – The Coe College men’s basketball team clinch a berth in the IIAC Tournament with a 71-66 win over Loras College on Saturday at Loras.

Senior JT Vonderhaar scored 12 points to become the 17th player in Coe history to reach 1,000 points in his career. He also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Matt Daoust led the Kohawks with 19 points. Matt Vonderhaar added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Nathaniel Smith scored 20 points to lead Loras. Justin VanWambeke chipped in 11.

Coe is 14-9 overall and 8-4 in the IIAC, while Loras fell to 9-14 and 4-8.

Jake Timm did not play for Coe due to a bad ankle.
