RoughRiders dumped by Sioux City

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders lost to Sioux City, 4-1, in a showdown of the USHL conference leaders before 4,285 fans at the Ice Arena Saturday night.

Cedar Rapids leads the Eastern Conference with a 30-15-0 record for 60 points and Sioux City leads the Western Conference with a 29-12-4 mark for 62 points, but this night belonged to the visitors from western Iowa.

The RoughRiders have led the Eastern Conference all season, at times by a sizeable margin, but their lead has shrunk with 15 games left in their regular season. Youngstown has 57 points, Dubuque 56 and Muskegon 55.

Cedar Rapids scored first on a goal by Erik Foley at the 5:34 mark of the opening period, but Sioux City scored four unanswered goals to prance out of town with the victory.

The RoughRiders play at Dubuque Sunday at 3:05 p.m.
