Former Cedar Rapids Washington pitcher Dakota Freese has been released by the Oakland A's organization.

Oakland picked Freese in the 12th round of the 2013 draft after he played junior college baseball at DMACC, but he never pitched an inning in the minor leagues due to arm problems. He had surgery last year and missed the entire 2014 campaign.

Freese, a 6-foot-3 right-hander, reached 97 mph with his fastball when healthy.
