Kohawks split with No.18 Central

Paige Zahner and Taylor Riedl belted home runs Tuesday as the Coe softball team split an Iowa Conference doubleheader with 18th-ranked Central at Clark Field.

Central won the first game, 10-4. The Kohawks captured the nightcap, 8-6.

The split left Coe at 22-14 overall and 6-6 in the league. Central is 26-9 overall and 7-3 in the conference.

Zahner hit her seventh home run in the first game and drove in two runs.

Riedl socked her third homer in the second game. She had two RBIs and scored two runs. Brianna Gardner, Zahner and Gretchen Lilienthal had two hits. Lilienthal drove in two runs.

Maliah Fligg (7-6) allowed three earned runs in seven innings to get the victory in Game 2.
