Freshmen help Prairie kick Kennedy

Three freshmen helped the Cedar Rapids Prairie boys soccer team maintain its perfect record Tuesday night.

Freshman Spencer Young scored the first goal of his varsity career as the seventh-ranked Hawks blanked No. 8 Kennedy, 1-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference match at Prairie.

Matt Walter and Boston Riley, who are also freshmen, collected the assists on Young's game-winning tally in the second half.

Senior Alec Balta pitched another shutout in goal for Prairie as the Hawks raised their records to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference.

Prairie has outscored its eight opponents, 45-0, this season.

Kennedy fell to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the league.
