DECORAH - Gretchen Lilienthal had three hits and drove home two runs as Coe defeated Buena Vista, 6-2, in the opening round of the Iowa Conference softball tournament at Luther.

The win moves the Kohawks to 24-15 and opposite top-seeded Luther at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Haley Smith and Erin Lang both had two hits for Coe. Pitcher Maliah Fligg had a double as well. She allowed five hits and two runs in picking up her eighth win of the season.

Former Cedar Rapids Washington standout Jordan Pilcher had one hits in three at bats for Buena Vista (18-20-1).
