DEWITT - The Marion Indians collected more first downs than DeWitt Central on Friday night, more yards on the ground, more yards through the air and had no turnovers.
That's normally a formula for success, but the unlucky Indians suffered their 13th straight setback with a 21-14 loss in DeWitt.
Tylar Fairbanks caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Issak Hahn in the third period and Marion tied the game, 14-14, on the PAT by Gabe Groothuis.
Unfortunately for the Indians, DeWitt Central won the game on a 5-yard touchdown pass from T.J. Sikkema to Gage Fuller to give the home team its first victory of the season.
Hahn passed for 177 yards and two touchdowns for Marion. He also found Blair Brooks for a 22-yard touchdown in the first quarter to begin the scoring.
Kory Walsh rushed for 106 yards for Marion and Hahn finished with 105.
Marion fell to 0-5 overall this season and 0-2 in Class 3A District 4. The Indians lost their last eight games of the 2014 game, saddling themselves with a 13-game losing streak.
