Perhaps not surprisingly, the Metro area's only undefeated Class 4A team has some of the state's statistical leaders in high school football.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy running back Tyler Dralle, buoyed by his second 200-yard performance last week against Jefferson, is No. 2 in 4A in rushing. Dralle has 779 yards rushing in five games and trails only Fort Dodge's Sam Cook, who has 894.
The Cougars' Shaun Beyer continues to lead 4A in punting with a 47.1-yard average on nine attempts. Beyer also has 16 pass receptions for 300 yards and has scored six touchdowns.
Prairie's Jalen Rima, the Metro Spotlight Award boys' athlete of the week, has cemented himself as one of the state's top all-purpose threats. Rima has touched the ball 46 times on rushes, receptions, punt returns and kickoff returns and has accumulated 1,070 yards and a Metro-best 10 touchdowns.
Xavier, unbeaten at 4-0 in Class 3A, has the Metro's top team in passing offense, total defense and scoring defense. Quarterback Bryce Schulte has a Metro-best 10 touchdown passes and Maliki Wilson ranks third in rushing behind Dralle and Marion's Cory Walsh.
Linn-Mar's Daniel Gorsich ranks first in the Metro and tied for 8th in 4A with 28 pass receptions.
