No. 5 Marion girls fall to No. 4 Bobcats

EPWORTH – The fourth-ranked Western Dubuque girls basketball team rallied in the second half and beat No. 5 Marion, 52-46, Tuesday in a Wamac Conference game at Western Dubuque.

The teams fought to a 24-24 tie at halftime, but the Bobcats pulled away in the second half.

Megan Maahs scored 22 points for Western Dubuque (9-0), shooting 12-of-13 from the free-throw line.

Chloe Rice led the Indians (6-3) with 17 points. Mia Laube added 13 points.

MARION (46): Knapp 1 0-0 2, Rice 6 4-4 17, Smith 2 0-0 5, Wright 0 0-0 0, Laube 4 5-6 13, Willette 0 0-0 0, Herold 2 0-0 6, Sade 1 1-1 3, Jordan 0 0-0 0. Totals 16 10-11 46.

WESTERN DUBUQUE (52): Simon 2 0-0 5, Burds 0 0-4 0, Dolphin 3 1-1 8, Pitz 3 4-4 10, Hill 0 0-0 0, Herbst 0 1-2 1, Megan Maahs 5 12-13 22, Cartee 1 2-2 4, McKenzie Maahs 1 0-2 2. Totals 15 20-28 52.
