Marion girls put clamps on Vinton

The sixth-ranked Marion girls basketball team held Vinton-Shellsburg to just six field goals in a 46-25 win Tuesday in a Wamac Conference game at Marion.

The Indians jumped to a 10-2 lead in the first four minutes before leading 17-11 at halftime.

Chloe Rice scored 11 points for Marion (7-3).

Vinton-Shellsburg fell to 3-9.

VINTON-SHELLSBURG (25): Grifitbh 1 6-6 8, Blake 0 2-2 2, Speidel 0 2-4 2, Cornell 2 1-2 5, A.Gloede 2 1-2 6, E.Gloede 1 0-0 2, Spies 0 0-0 0. Totals 6 12-16 25.

MARION (46): Redmond 0 0-0 0, Knapp 1 0-0 2, Rice 3 5-5 11, Smith 4 0-1 8, Wright 1 0-0 2, Cannoy 0 00 0, Dunne 1 1-2 4, Laube 2 3-4 7, Willette 0 0-0 0, Herold 3 0-0 7, Sade 0 1-2 1, Jordan 1 2-2 4. Totals 16 12-16 46.
