Hugh McGing poured in three straight goals for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Saturday night in a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Steel in a USHL game before 2,921 fans at the Ice Arena.
Justin Cole gave the RoughRiders a 1-0 lead in the first period with his seventh goal of the season. McGing tallied twice in the second period to give Cedar Rapids a 3-0 lead, then he scored again in the final stanza to make it 4-0.
Chicago scored at the 12:07 mark of the third period to foil a potential shutout for Ben Blacker, who made 23 saves in goal for the RoughRiders.
McGing has scored 17 goals this season. Ross Colton collected three assists for Cedar Rapids.
Cedar Rapids sits in first place in the Eastern Conference of the USHL with 47 points, leading Dubuque by three points.
