Filipe lifts RoughRiders in Shootout

CHICAGO - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Chicago Steel battled on even terms all night Saturday until Matt Filipe gave the RoughRiders a 3-2

victory in the Shootout portion of their USHL game before 1,034 fans at the Fox Valley Ice Arena.

The game was tied after three periods, 2-2, and neither team scored in overtime.

The first five shooters for both teams failed to connect in the Shootout before Filipe found the goal for the RoughRiders. Cedar Rapids goalie Ben Blacker then turned away another shot by Chicago for the victory.

John Snodgrass and Ross Colton gave the RoughRiders a 2-0 lead in regulation, but the Steel fought back and tied the game.

Cedar Rapids leads the Eastern Conference in the USHL with 51 points. Green Bay is second with 47.
