COUNCIL BLUFFS - Kasey Semler of Marion High School was named the MVP for the Large Schools East team in the annual Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series that ended Sunday.

Semler had a double and two RBIs Thursday to help his team nip the Small Schools East squad, 6-5. Anthony Gagliardi of Cedar Rapids Prairie pitched two shutout innings to get the save in that game.

The Large Schools East team went 2-2 in the series and lost to Large Schools West, 9-6, in the finals on Sunday.
