Bees rally from 16 down to clip Mustangs

DAVENPORT - Saint Ambrose overcame a 16-point first half deficit and closed the game on an 8-2 run to down Mount Mercy, 60-57, in women's basketball action Wednesday night at Lee Lohman Arena.

The Mustangs (12-12) dominated play in the first half, grabbing a 31-17 lead at the break. Saint Ambrose fought back, but still trailed by three with 2:37 remaining before putting together its final push to gain the win.

Abby Herb led the Mustangs with 21 points. Ashley Dolan had 13 points while Makenzie Zeitler pulled down 10 rebounds to become only the second player in school history with 1,000 career rebounds. Jane Meyer is the other.

The Bees (17-6) were led by Lindsay Smith with 14 points.

MOUNT MERCY (57): Herb 8 3-4 21, Weiland 3 1-2 10,Sexton 1 0-0 3, Harmon 3 0-0 6, Zeitler 0 0-0 0, Lampe 0 0-0 0, Thompson 2 0-0 4, Dolan 4 3-3 13, Lehman 0 0-0 0. Totals 21 7-9 57.
