RoughRiders blank Chicago in USHL

GENEVA, Ill. – Ross Colton and Will Garin scored goals to lead the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders to a 2-0 win over the Chicago Street in front of 811 fans in a USHL hockey match Friday at Fox Valley Ice Arena.

Colton scored in the first period with assists by Johnny DeRoche and Jack Ahcan. Garin tallied in the third period with assists by Pavel Tkachkov and Taylor Bierley.

The RoughRiders held a slim advantage in shots at 36-31. Ben Blacker made 31 saves for Cedar Rapids to record the shutout.

The RoughRiders are 30-12-2 for 63 points and are tied for the Eastern Conference lead with Dubuque. Chicago fell to 19-20-4 and 45 points for sixth in the conference.

Cedar Rapids plays host to Waterloo at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ice Arena.
