Storyline - Both teams are in search of their first win and this could be the best chance for either team to score a victory this season. East embarrassed the J-Hawks 48-6 last season at Waterloo.
Waterloo East - The Trojans were whipped by No. 1 Cedar Falls 41-6 last week and were beaten by No. 9 Iowa City West 56-13 the previous week. East returns the majority of its players from last season's playoff qualifiers. Junior QB Desmond VanArsdale threw 33 passes against Cedar Falls, but completed only six. Junior RB Aaron Taylor ran for 104 yards. Top players: QB Desmond VanArsdale, jr. (12-45-2-182, 1 TD passing; 22-118 rushing); RB Aaron Taylor, jr. (16-107 rushing); RB Corshundous Love, sr. Jefferson - The J-Hawks have lost 15 straight games dating back to a Sept. 25, 2009, win over Dubuque Senior. Jefferson was beaten by Washington 35-6 last week and has been outscored 70-16 in its first two games. The J-hawks have been susceptible to the run. Washington had 277 yards rushing last week and Linn-Mar 196 the previous week. RB/CB Austin Short is questionable with a hamstring injury. Top players: QB Alex Baxter, sr.
