Summer softball league jumps to 75 players

Ten more players have joined the Iowa Women's Softball League in the past week, lifting the program to 75 players with the season opener on June 3 still six weeks away.

The IWSL began the season last year with 52 players, so the league has grown by 44 percent in a short period of time.

The 75 players are from 36 different colleges in Iowa, Minnesota, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Florida. They represent a blend from NCAA, NAIA and Junior College institutions at all levels of DI, DII and DIII.
