Kirkwood freshman Erin Hocker tossed a four-hit shutout as the seventh-ranked Eagles blanked fifth-ranked Iowa Central, 4-0, in the first game of their ICCAC conference doubleheader at Kirkwood Saturday.
Iowa Central won the second game, 8-2.
Hocker struck out eight batters and walked only two in the 4-0 shutout. Lauren Klaahsen had two doubles for the Eagles to continue her hot hitting. Rachel Stewart, London Jackson and Klaahsen had RBIs.
Klaahsen socked a solo home run in the 8-2 loss in the nightcap.
The split left Kirkwood at 23-8 overall and 6-2 in the conference. Iowa Central is 23-8 overall and 4-4 in the league.
DMACC leads the conference with a perfect 10-0 record.
