Bosch grabs slim lead in IWSL race

Bosch Financial swept its doubleheader against Emil's Hideaway Sunday  at Busse Field and grabbed a half-game lead in the Iowa Women's  Softball League standings with one week left in the season.

Bosch Financial sports an overall record of 9-2-3, with Ironside  Apparel a half-tick behind at 8-2-4.

BOSCH SWEEPS EMIL'S

Autumn McDanel of Belmont tossed a five-hit shutout as Bosch Financial  blanked Emil's Hideway, 5-0, in the first game of their doubleheader.

Elison Ollinger of Belmont and Lexi Merritt of Grand View ripped  back-to-back RBI triples in the fourth inning when Bosch scored three  runs to open a 4-0 advantage.

Merritt was 2-for-2. Emma McDanel of Iowa Wesleyan and Kaylee Watson  of Grand View had RBI singles. Paige Timmerman of Luther lofted a  sacrifice fly.

KyLeigh Becker of Loras pitched a complete game as Bosch won the  nightcap, 6-3. Watson went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Bosch and Payton  Bruner of Mount Mercy hit an RBI double.

Morgan Hogenson of Luther went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases for  Emil's Hideaway.

IRONSIDE WINS AND TIES

Ironside Apparel blanked Hawkeye Convenience Stores, 3-0, in the first  game of their doubleheader.

Jordyn Kleman of Winona State and Erin Drahozal of Upper Iowa combined  on a two-hit shutout. Kleman pitched the first six innings and  collected nine strikeouts.

Drahozal belted a two-run double in the sixth inning to snap a  scoreless tie and give Ironside a 2-0 lead. Kleman began the rally  with a two-out double and Cierra Hansen of Loras followed with a  single. Drahozal then delivered her two-run double. Morgan Lewis of  Iowa followed with an RBI single to make it 3-0.

The second game of the doubleheader featured a classic pitching duel  between the Oler sisters, with Erica Oler of UNI facing Emily Oler of  Mount Mercy. The game ended in a 1-1 tie, with both Olers tossing  strong games.

The Olers are normally teammates for Ironside Apparel, but Emily Oler  was loaned to Hawkeye Convenience Stores when one of Hawkeye's  scheduled pitchers was unable to play due to a medical condition.

Hawkeye Convenience Stores took a 1-0 lead against Erica Oler when  Brie Tauber of Clarke collected an RBI triple in the top of the fifth.  Ironside scored its run against Emily Oler in the bottom of the fifth  on a two-out RBI single by Elli Wroblewski of South Dakota.

Erica Oler allowed only one hit in the game. Emily Oler, making her  first pitching appearance of the season, allowed one run on six hits.
