WEST BURLINGTON - The sixth-ranked Kirkwood softball team won both of its games in the SCC Tournament at the Fun City indoor complex in West Burlington Sunday.
The Eagles topped Marshalltown, 11-3, in their first game and trimmed Southeastern, 6-5, to finish the event with a 3-1 record.
Kirkwood scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to erase a 4-3 deficit and trim Southeastern in the second game. Randyn Carter and Jessie Frasher belted home runs for the winners.
Carter collected three RBIs in Game 2 and Frasher drove in two runs. Autum Barthelman had two hits. Isabelle True pitched four innings in relief for the victory.
Shelby Hulsebus went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and three stolen bases in the leadoff spot in the victory over Marshalltown in Game 1. Barthelman was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs in the No. 2 spot right behind Hulsebus.
Courtney Harris went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Carter had two RBIs. Carrie Nelson pitched the first three innings for the victory.
